Hi Margarette,
Thank you for forwarding Nicola's email to us. This is the first we've heard from her, so I
think she may be under the assumption that the Planning Commission receivedcorrespondence she previously sent to the administration and Council. Last night was the first
time we were introduced to the BESS issue. I'd like to request that someone from CED pleaselet Nicola know that we did not receive her prior communications and that she's welcome to
send them again to our attention.
Thanks,Kevin

Good evening Commission members,I hope all is well with you and yours?
Thank you for all you do for our city, and for your time tonight.
I have sent your group a lot of information since April regarding Battery Energy
Storage Systems (BESS).You have a lot of demands on your time, and have to be selective about what you
can possibly read.
I apologize if I have sent too many letters.
Because of a comment from a commission member, I am not sure if all theinformation I am sending is reaching you, or if it is what I should be doing?
Interestingly, one of the Commission members made a comparison between the
risks of living close to a car with a car battery, and 9.3 acres of Grid Sized, Li-ionMega Packs, totaling 300 batteries.
I am asking if this is a fair comparison of risk?
We are a community of modest homes/affordable, that were built in 1943.A unique, and unusual community in this age.
It is a matter of history, that communities similar in some ways to ours, have
tended to be vulnerable to powerful organizations, groups and institutions wantingto push forward their own plans to fulfill their own agendas, without regard for
the impacts on the lives of those in the specific location, and too often money isthe driving force, and/or the need for infrastructure.
TENASKA, a multi-billion dollar energy storage company is financing this
proposal/project. They are in this because there is an enormous amount of moneyto be made for all.
Perhaps they believe we will not speak up, will just let them run over us.Their name is on the pre-application proposal.
Just offering a few snipets of background information that you might be interested
in.
One last comment. Most BESS, are adjacent to sub-stations, not a mile away.
Most BESS of this magnitude are in isolated locations.
I have attached an image of the proposal as it would sit behind our homes. Eachhome is 800 - 1000 sq ft.
It dwarfs our community. We might eventually need one of these systems in Renton, but not in a location,
regardless of how flat it is, that contains Zone 1 APA sole source aquifer, awetland, 2 documented streams, slide hazard, and dense woodland, not to mention
the wild-life corridor, and across the street from the Cedar River.Bellevue apparently needs this now.
My question is why aren't they pursuing it?
Instead they are pursuing us.
Thank you again for your time.Respectfully.
