Upon arrival, AESI met with Jerry Jr. of CDC and Kyle of Cornerstone. Footing Subgrade Observations – Area C While on-site, AESI observed new footings that had been prepared in Area C, as shown in Figure 1. Using a ½-inch diameter, steel t-probe, the bottom of the excavation probed generally less than 2 to 4-inches and appeared firm and unyielding underfoot. It is the opinion of AESI that the footing subgrade observed today appears suitable for the design footing loads. On-site Sewer Line Backfill While on-site, we observed that approximately 3’ to 4’ of sewer line backfill, consisting of on-site soils, had been placed between Sanitary Sewers #1, #11, #10 and #9 (Figure 1). The backfill was placed in 1’ to 1.5’ lifts and compacted with a hoepac. AESI used a density gauge to test the new backfilled sections. Test results met or exceeded 95% compaction (Table 1). In our opinion, based on our observations and test results, we found the observed area of the sewer line backfill today to be firm and unyielding.
