The following briefly describes the application and the n ecessary Public Approval. See also https://cutt.ly/uZhoYr3 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant, Sound Transit, is requesting a Tier II Temporary Use Permit to conduct soil remediation work and place artwork at the South Renton Transit Center site located at 750 Rainier Ave S (APN 192305-9035, -9063, -9068, -9074). The soil remediation work would include excavating and removing known contaminated material on-site and backfilling would be completed using non -contaminated soil through best management practices and controls. The soil remediation work will require a Building Grading Permit. According to COR Maps, the site contains high seismic hazards and is in the Downtown Wellhead Protection Area (Zone 2). Sound Transit, the lead agency for the new South Renton Transit Center and BRT station, issued a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) under WAC 197-11-340 (2) and Sound Transit’s SEPA rules on September 30, 2020. The applicant submitted a remediation plan, geotechnical recommendation report, storm drainage report, and contract specifications with the application.
