Senior Advisory Committee Meeting
Monday, November 5, 2018 – 10:00 am

ATTENDANCE: Marge Cochran-Reep, Vice President, Shirley Haddock, Sandra Polley, Ruby Griffin,
Sandy Jensen, Beatrice Budziu
Excused: Patty Reese, Vicki Richards

Staff: Carrie Nass, Recreation and Neighborhoods Manager, Sean Claggett, Recreation Coordinator,
Jeannie Gabriel, Admin Secretary

1. Call to Order at 10:15 AM
2. Approval of Agenda

Will approve during next committee meeting
4. Discussion/Action Items
a. October 15 meeting, committee donated to Gift of Play $1,500.00 to be earmarked to
Senior Scholarships; remaining balance will go towards Budkis Fund. Current account
balance is $13,877.68; need to deplete funds before moving from Advisory Committee to
City Board.
5. Information
a. Senior Advisory Committee Ordinance – Carrie, Maryjane and Kelly will be presenting Ordinance to
convert Senior Advisory Committee to official City Board to the Community Services Committee at
5PM; all current eight members will be voted in tonight, as part of the Ordinance.
b. Coffee Bar update – Need to get updates from Michael; remodel may take up to 3 weeks;
coffee bar will move to lunch/banquet room. No coffee bar on Wednesdays due to Meals
on Wheels.
c. Debbie Little is hoping to be back on Monday, November 19
d. New Recreation software PerfectMind; soft launch on December 5, will be able to fully
register for classes on January 2. Sean Claggett will coordinate a date when Lisa McMartin
can schedule a class for PerfectMind training for clients at Senior Center.
e. Golden Opportunities – moving to four month promotion of classes starting January 2019
f. Handicap Stalls – Might be helpful to install help bell for handicap stalls in restrooms. Sean
will discuss with the Facilities Department on what they could possibly put in stalls. Senior
Center has 6 handicap stalls in the building.
g. Emergency Phone – Can this be possibly placed at new Coffee Bar? This will be the 2nd
emergency phone in the building.
6. Report
a. Sean Claggett – October 27, Holiday Bazaar, 40 vendors and over 400 attended; Halloween
Luncheon on 10/31 – Individuals dressed up and over 100 attended; November 7, National

Peanut Butter Event, Peanut Butter desserts; floral wreaths class is coming up; November
14, a new technology class will be available.
b. Marge Cochran-Reep – Would like to have Senior Advisory Committee members attend
and volunteer at more events; will need to create a sign-up sheet; Rotary Thanksgiving
Luncheon on Thanksgiving, November 22; November 16, Thanksgiving Luncheon during
regular Senior Center lunch; Talk to Sean about New Year’s Eve Luncheon, December 31;
Holiday Luncheon, December 9.
7. Next Meeting topics
Approve both October 15 and November 5 committee meeting minutes
