a. Approval of minutes – approved
4. Celebration of this past year’s achievements and thank you to former Senior Advisory
Committee members; thank you to Sandy Polley for overseeing finances in 2018; presenting Mij
$1,790.90 for Budkis Fund; Budkis fund has granted over $30,000 to seniors this year and truly
appreciates this donation.
5. Discussion/Action Items
a. Ikuta Fund through Renton Community Foundation: Randy will complete income tax for
2018 and then account will be officially closed by end of December. Discussion to
possibly place Ikuta Fund plaque in remodeled coffee bar
b. Golden Opportunities brochure: Sandy and many of the Board members objects to this
change; suggestion to print out a few just for senior center if we will combine in 2019 if
they can’t have a stand alone brochure; benefit is that combined guide will be mailed out
and reach new seniors; they want their own senior guide; maybe have a pullout for
seniors; new combined guide will be three times per year: Jan – April; May – Aug; Sept –
Dec; combined guide will start in summer 2019; Advisory Board is concerned going from
three to four months; they currently print 3,000 Golden Opportunities 4x/year
c. Fire Alarm/Emergency Evacuation: need to identify designated areas for fire and
emergency evacuations; Senior Center staff will need training on emergency evaluations
moving forward, as many are new to the center; Sandy Polley suggested that we set up a

fire drill for all people in center; Patty Reese suggested that we do quarterly drills; Sean,
Debbie and Carrie will coordinate with Renton Regional Fire Authority and Emergency
Management to coordinate training and drills.
