EQUITY COMMISSION

CALL TO ORDER
Chair Rubalcaba called the meeting of the Renton Equity Commission to order at 5:33 p.m.

MOVED BY HILL, SECONDED BY PADHI. CARRIED.
Later in the meeting Administrative Assistant Linda Moschetti-Newing recognized
Commissioner Baddeley had provided notice during the June meeting that she would not be
in attendance. Her absence will be presented for consideration to excuse at the August 9
meeting.

MAYOR PAVONE'S COMMENTS
Mayor Pavone updated the Commission on the status of the Equity, Housing, and Human
Services Department Administrator position and anticipated timeline for them to receive their
Docket.
SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Human Resources Risk Management Department Inclusion Tactical Plan
Senior Employee Relations Analyst Brian Sandler.
Senior Employee Relations Analyst Brian Sandler gave a presentation on the Human
Resources Risk Management Department's implementation of equity and inclusion in hiring
and interviewing practices.
AUDIENCE COMMENT
Those wishing to address the Equity Commission will be called upon. In-person
audience will be called upon first, followed by virtual attendees. Each speaker is
allowed three (3) minutes.
CONSENT AGENDA
Approval of the June 14, 2022 Renton Equity Commission Regular meeting minutes.

Commission Protocol/Expectations
Administrative Assistant Linda Moschetti-Newing.
Administrative Assistant Linda Moschetti-Newing reviewed how the Commissioners can
prepare for their meeting upon receiving the meeting packet, how to make inquiries if they
have questions prior to the meeting, and overall protocol.
Mission and Vision Statements
Equity and Inclusion Consultant Benita Horn.

Equity and Inclusion Consultant Benita Horn explained the upcoming process for creating a
mission and vision statement for the Commission. This work will commence during the
August 9 meeting.
