Limitations: The presence of our field representative at the site is to provide our client with a source of professional advice, opinions, and recommendations based upon the field representative’s observations and testing of the contractor’s work. Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for
obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible
for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations,
is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager.
As requested by the client, ESNW rep was on-site to observe and make recommendations regarding
fence post excavations along the northern margin of the site. While on-site, the following was observed:
Northern Fence Post Hole Excavation Observations & Recommendations:
Upon arrival on-site, ESNW rep observed the grading contractor, Johansen Construction, continue
excavating fence post holes directly behind the previously constructed fill rockery along the northern
margin of the site. Per ESNW project manager, Scott Riegel’s, recommendations, the grading contractor
carefully excavate a total of 27 pilot holes for the proposed fence posts. Each approximately 2-foot-wide
by four-foot-deep excavation was observed to consist of previously installed rockery elements, including
2-man stones, 2-inch-to-4-inch clean crushed rock, Miragrid 5-XT geogrid, and structural backfill soil.
ESNW rep observed the grading contractor carefully cut and remove localized sections of rockery
elements (geogrid), taking care to not disturb other elements through-out the surrounding rockery
section. Some sections will need to be re-excavated with larger machinery. These spots were marked by
the contractor. ESNW rep was then informed by the grading contractor, excavation efforts would
continue tomorrow, September 2, 2022 through the beginning of the following week. Please see
attached map and images below.
ESNW rep will return when requested.
