HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
3:00 PM - Tuesday, September 20, 2022

CALL TO ORDER
The Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meeting for September 20, 2022 was called
to order at 3:07 p.m. by Guy Williams, Human Services Manager.

Approval of June 21, 2022 Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting minutes.

NEW BUSINESS
a) Review of Committee's full recommendations for 2023-2024 Human Services general
fund grant funding.
Lori Fleming, Human Services Coordinator presented the summary for the full funding
recommendations. Discussed number of applications with funding recommendations
compared to last funding cycle. 64 applications recommended out of 85 total applications
submitted for a total of $812,000.
HSAC discussed importance of funding agencies that serve Renton residents. No changes to
the HSAC group recommendations.
b) Human Services Funding Recommendations report to Council.
A list of agencies that are receiving funding will be compiled for Council. HSAC was advised
that the Equity, Housing and Human Services budget for 2023-2024 will be presented to the
Council Committee of the Whole on October 10, 2022. The Human Services funding
recommendations will be presented to the Mayor and Council for approval in October.
c) Application review process debrief.
Suggestions for next funding cycle were:
1. Continue to have two groups to review applications.
2. Meet at a different time of day to accommodate work schedules.
3. Continue providing the hard copy 3 ring notebook for review rather than online
review.
4. No comments to the Rating Tool were suggested.
5. Doing additional outreach to agencies about the application such as using Renton
business license data.
d) Equity, Housing, and Human Services Department updates.
The Equity, Housing, and Human Services (EHHS) Department has a new Administrator,
Maryjane Van Cleave and a new Community Outreach Coordinator, Chan Te.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 3:53 p.m.
The next Renton Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday,
October 18, 2022 at 3:00 pm via Zoom or in person.
