A. Public Meetings
Commissioners asked for the flexibility to attend virtually or in person. Kim presented information on
the Open Public Meetings Act, and how it applies to hybrid meetings. In Washington State, there is a
requirement to maintain a physical location for all open public meetings, but groups are able to decide
to what extent they will allow participation via remote options. Commissioners discussed excused ab-
sences versus unexcused absence and consecutive absences, and wished to review the Civil Service rules
on that subject at a future meeting. Camila Lagow asked for a vote of the options:
1. Allow commission members full flexibility to attend meetings in-person or telephonical-
ly/virtually as needed; OR
2. Limit the number of meetings a commission member can attend telephonically/virtually.
Moved by Camila Lagow and Seconded by Brent Beden to adopt Option #1, and allow Civil Service
Commission members full flexibility to attend meetings in-person or telephonically/virtually as needed.
Motion carried. Kim Gilman offered to add this to the Civil Service Rules, along with other revisions
made in the past year, at a future meeting date.
B. Next Regular meeting is August 23, 2022**
8. Adjournment
Brent Beden Moved and Kathleen Booher Seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:37 PM.
