(AESI) was on-site in the morning for observation of Stormwater Detention Facility 2 progress and footing subgrade, at the request of Jerry Jr. of CDC. Stormwater Detention Facility 2 While on-site, AESI observed progress on Stormwater Detention Facility 2. We noted that the placement of the lower geotextile liner, PVC liner, and top geotextile liner was almost entirely complete. CDC informed AESI that the completion of liners in the area where a temporary ramp is in place is scheduled for later in the week. The placement of approximately 9” of clean crushed aggregate over the base of the facility was underway. AESI observed the contractors use a single drum roller to level and compact the aggregate. The placement of stormwater chambers and top 1’ of clean crushed aggregate over the chambers was also underway, starting in the southeastern corner. AESI observed the contractor use a plate compactor to compact the top of the aggregate. See Figure 1 for location of observed area today. Footing Subgrade While onsite, AESI observed several areas of footing subgrade that had been prepared near building Area A. We noted that the subgrade areas consisted of 2 ½” minus crushed rock backfill of which, we had previously observed the placement and compaction. AESI used a ½ inch diameter steel soils T-probe to assess the subgrade conditions. Generally, the area probed less than 2” full body weight. In our opinion, based on our observations we found the area of subgrade observed today to be firm and unyielding and suitable for support of the planned stairs and covered play area. See Figure 2 for location of observed area today. Electrical Trench Backfill While onsite, AESI observed beginning of the excavation of the shallow onsite electrical trenches in the SW corner of the site. We noted that the soil being removed from the trenches in the SW corner of the site appeared dry of optimum moisture content. We recommended that prior to backfilling in this area, the material be moisture conditioned. The contractors informed AESI that they planned to begin backfilling Thursday morning. 16 Date Project Name Project No. Report No. 09/20/2022 Renton ES 16 20180398E003 063 Page 2 of 4 FIELD REPORT Photo 1.
