Staff report : The Comprehensive Plan indicates the proposed area as single family residential. The existing use of the prop- erty is a vacant partially demolished building and vacant land. Adjacent uses are single family residential. The proposed use is for the construction of an apartment building. Committee report : The Committee recommends denial of the rezone request on the basis that it is not in agreement with the Comprehensive Plan, and the proposed use would not be compatible with the surrounding area. Chairman Garrison invited comments from the audience. Mr. Al Tosco stated that he lives across the street from the proposed apartment site , and he was not in favor of the con- struction of the apartments . He felt this area should be single family residential . ACTION: Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Teegarden that the hearing be closed. Motion carried. Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Teegarden, that the rezone be denied. Motion carried. ( 8) Charles Bigley,Appl. No. R-318-66 , request for rezone from R-2 to R-3 , property on North Williams between 2nd and 3rd Avenues N. Staff re;ort : The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area as multiple family residential. The Applicant proposes to construct a 6-unit apartment building . The existing uses are predominats; y single family--residential. Committee report : Recommends approval of the request on the basis that the proposed rezone is in agreement with!:!.the Compre- hensive Plan , and appears to be a logical development for this area, in view of the present and future trends and needs . ACTION: Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Racanello, that the hearing be closed. Motion carried. Moved by Stredicke , seconded by Racanello, that the rezone be recommended to the City Council for approval, since it is in agreement with the Comprehensive Plan. Motion carried.
