He asked why the Committee recommended denial of the rezone. Mro Ericksen stated that the Comprehensive Plan is a 1985 plan,, and this area might in the future be suitable for Mul- • tiple Residential use, howev er ,.it. is felt that the rezoning to Multiples at this time is premature, since most of the area is single family now. Acting Chairman Denzer asked if there were any comments from the audience. Mr. James Starwick stated that he wished to present a petition of protest to the Commission against the proposed rezone. He felt that this is a single family residential neighborhood and wished to .preserve this. Others voicing protests were: Mr. Grubd ic, and Mr. 'Andy Gi.gli0 The petition contained 18 signatures. ACTION: • Moved by Racanello, seconded by Stone, that the hear- ing be closed. Motion carried. Moved by. Stredicke, seconded by Teegarden ,that the re- zone be denied. Motion carried. • The Applicant was informed that he could enter an appeal to the City Council within 10 days, of this hearing. (6) qohn Mo$a han Appl, No,4R-357-66 request for rezone from R-1 to k-4 , p o �t iocatecr on -Vie west side of 112th Avenue SE, approximately one-half block north of the intersection of 112th Avenue SE and Sunset Highway E. The proposed use is for high density apartments. The Comprehensive Plan indicates the area as Multiple Family residential Staff comment: Property is located to the south of the North Renton Interchange and has been considered as future multiple residential. Properties located along the east side of the Sunset Highway were recently zoned R-3. Committee comments : Recommended approval of the rezone request with the exception that the first 100° of the prop- erty along 112th Avenue SE be rezoned to R-.3 Acting Chairman Denzer asked if there were any comments from the audience. Mr. James Burch, 1617 112th Ave. SE, stated . that he was not against the proposed rezone, but felt that the entire block should be rezoned. Mrc Denzer explained that the Commission could not initiate a rezone. Normally, • this is done by petition by the. property owner, or the City Council could initiate the rezone • ACTION: Moved by Stredicke, seconded by Stone, that the hearing be closed. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Teegarden, seconded by Stredicke, that the re- quest for rezone to R-4 be recommended to the City Council, as it is in agreement with the Comprehensive Plan. Motion carried unanimously. .
