JUSTIFICATION FOR CHANGE 1. Brief description of the proposed contract change(s)and location(s). Item No. 01 - FD#004- Pothole AT&T concrete encased fiber optic and City of Renton power conduit along the West Berm in three locations. See Exhibit I attached. Item No, 02 - FD#007 - Install 9 flood lights along the central portion of the Blast Wall. See Exhibit 2 attached. Item No. 03 - FD#009- Install 5' wide filter fabric to surround the underdrainage system, See Exhibit 3 attached. Item No. 04 - FD40 10- Install two(2)additional quick coupler valves-one at each end of the new Blast Wall. See Exhibit 4 attached. Item No. 05 - Remove and Dispose of Unsuitable Material excavated during irrigation pipe and communications conduit installation. Backfill using coarse sand. See Exhibit 5 attached. 2. Reason(s) for the change(s) (Continue on reverse ff neces.varj) Item No. 01 - FD#004 - AT&T utility locates revealed a fiber optic line within the construction limits on the west end berm. In addition to the AT&T fiber line, the City of Renton co-located a power conduit. Potholing,the utilities was necessary to acquire existing cover depths. Item No. 02 - FD#007 - With the removal of Schedule III in its entirety(See C0002), Blast Wall Artwork and Lighting had been removed from the Contract. FD#007 directed the Contractor to install all flood light conduit per the original Contract. FD#007 directed the Contractor to install 9 of the original 22 flood lights along the central portion of the Blast Wall. Revised plan sheet 06.01 and plan sheet 06.02 were utilized during construction. Item No. 03 - FD#009 directs the Contractor to provide filter fabric surrounding the pea gravel and perforated underdrain pipe(underdrainage system). Filter fabric used in this manner extends the service life and functionality of the underdrainage system. Item No. 04 - FD#010 directs the Contractor to install two additional quick coupler valves adjacent to the perimeter fence-one at each end of the Blast Wall. These additional quick coupler valves will provide water access for maintaining the front side of the new blast wall. Item No. 05 -During excavation along the berms area for irrigation pipe and communications conduit installation,the Contractor encountered unsuitable material. The unsuitable material consisted of large concrete and asphalt chunks, which are both unsatisfactory for pipe and conduit backfill. The Contractor was directed to remove and dispose of the unsuitable material and supply coarse sand for backfill. Page 2 of 3 3. Justifications for unit prices or total cost.
