THE CONTRACT IS MODIFIED AS FOLLOWS:
Background
Roadway Excavation and Haul are per 2-03.4 of the 2010 WSDOT Standard Specifications and as supplemented by Special
Provision 2-03.4.The supplemented specification allows for the quantity of earthwork to be recalculated should discrepancies
be found during the course of the project. Per the Special Provision:"If discrepancies are discovered in the ground elevations
which will materially affect the quantities of earthwork,the original computations of earthwork quantities will be adjusted
accordingly".
The original KPG(design engineer)roadway excavation calculation excluded estimated totals of petroleum and solvent
contaminated soils from the total roadway excavation of 18,500 CY. Since that time,the petroleum and contaminated
roadway excavation numbers have become known and have been calculated to equal 288 CY. In a meeting held on April 24,
2013,The City,engineering team,and the Contractor agreed that Bid Item A33 should be revised to exclude actual quantities
of roadway excavation portions of Bid Items A36 and A37. Therefore,the roadway excavation total has been recalculated to
exclude the actual amount of petroleum and solvent contaminated material(288 CY)in the roadway excavation area and a
new total of 18,212 CY has been determined.
Additionally,the private planter strip separating the McLendon's parking lot and City sidewalk was altered at approx.STA
34+50,RT to STA 37+00,RT by the property owner between the design and construction phase. This modification consisted
of the addition of mounded material in the area specified. A portion totaling 154 CY of this material is required to be
removed to allow for the project's per plan construction.
Description of Change
The total cubic yard total for Roadway Excavation,including Haul,for Bid Item A33 shall be revised to account for existing
conditions present at the time of construction and actual roadway excavation quantities of petroleum and solvent
contaminated materials
New Material
No new material shall be incorporated into the project via this Change Order.
