Background
During the installation for the NE signal foundation on South 7 t street, it was realized that the power for the signal at Hardie
Avenue SW and South 7th Street was being supplied by the existing signal at S.7`h and Rainer Ave S.This was not known at the
time of design or during the bidding process.This connection is not per the National Electrical Code and it was determined
that the connection could not be re-established to the proposed S.7`h St.and Rainier Ave signal per code;which would result
in the traffic signal at Hardie Avenue SW and South 7`h Street to no longer be in operation.This creates a public safety issue
twofold: First, by having electrical system that does not meet code and second,by having existing signalized intersection
potentially being inoperable should the work not occur. In addition,the existing power service box is not per he current City
of Renton standard and therefore needs to be replaced.
On January 18, 2013 the Contractor provided a cost proposal for this scope of work per discussions and meetings with the City
of Renton.
Description of Change
Contractor shall abandon the existing pole mount service at South 7`h Street and Hardie Avenue South and replace with a new
pedestal mount service that meets code.Scope of work is to include coordination and excavation allowing Puget Sound
Energy to supply and install the required transformer vault.After installation of vault and pedestal mount service,Contractor
to restore area to existing conditions.

Timeline

At this time no time impacts have been realized or forecasted.However, should impacts become realized for this scope of
work due to long lead times for materials or due to Puget Sound Energy installation delays,a time impact analysis shall be
completed to determine the effect on the critical path.
