THE CONTRACT IS MODIFIED AS FOLLOWS:
Background
South 2nd Street:
The existing design calls for the replacement of 3 ADA cement concrete curb ramps at the northeast corner and northwest
side of S. 2nd Street and Rainier Avenue South. During January 2013 progress meetings with the Contractor,construction
management team,and the City of Renton the elimination of the S.2nd Street ramps were discussed.It was agreed that the
following constructability concerns would arise should this work proceed:
1. To be able to construct ADA compliant wheelchair ramps and pedestrian push button while attempting to mathc
existing sidewalk grades,the contractor would be required to perform construction activities outside of the right-of-
way limits for the street.The project is well into construction and beyond the point of no return for additional right-
of-way acquisition.
2. The City is planning a future phase of Rainier improvements that will completely reconstruct the intersection of
Rainier Ave South and South 2nd Street,consequently removing and replacing these curb ramps.
After consideration of these concerns,the City of Renton has deleted this scope of work from the contract.This deletion of
work would not alter the termini or character of the Rainier Avenue South(SR 167)Project.
Description of Change
Contractor shall not perform the scope of work associated with South 2nd Street curb ramps as shown on the following plans
sheets:
• Alignment Plan, Plan sheet 91,dated 1/7/13,by KPG
• Channelization and Signing Plan,dated 12/14/11,by KPG
The deletion of the South 2'd Street cement concrete curb ramps is a non-critical path item and therefore will not have an
effect on Contract working days.
New Material
No new material shall be incorporated into the project via this Change Order,
