Mayor Denis Law presented a proclamation on Monday, July 15, declaring August to be ”Renton Welcomes Seahawks Fans to Training Camp Month,“ and the “12” flag is flying high above Renton City Hall and several other public facilities. Seahawks Training Camp is sold out this year and over 25,000 fans are expected to attend this month. Throughout the city “Renton Welcomes Seahawks Fans” banners will proudly tout fan spirit, and local businesses, organizations and fans will display Training Camp 2013 cheer cards. Fans can download cheer cards from the city’s website at rentonwa.gov. Everyone is being asked to wear blue and green colors and put on their “12” buttons during training camp to show their support. Businesses are also encouraged to use their own reader boards to celebrate Seahawks Training Camp 2013 in Renton. “We are really excited to welcome fans from all over the region to Seahawks Training Camp in Renton,” said Mayor Denis Law. “As you cheer the Seahawks and enjoy training camp I encourage you to spend time in Renton and take advantage of all that we have here–great shopping, fabulous restaurants, beautiful parks, and fun recreation activities.” The fifth annual training camp at the spectacular Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC), the Seattle Seahawks’ headquarters and training facility in Renton, starts on July 25 and includes practices through August 14. The Renton Community Marketing Campaign is taking advantage of the large volume of visitors coming to Renton by promoting opportunities to shop, dine, stay and play in Renton. Visitors to training camp will receive discounts at The Landing, and ambassadors from the Renton Chamber of Commerce and City of Renton staff will distribute information and welcome visitors.
