Collum, Community Development Project Manager, City of Renton 425-430-6589 Preeti Shridhar, Deputy Public Affairs Administrator, City of Renton 425-430-6569 The Lofts at Second and Main Groundbreaking Ceremony New market-rate housing project in Downtown Renton RENTON: Cosmos Development Company and the City of Renton celebrated the groundbreaking for The Lofts at Second and Main project (formerly Renton Heritage Apartments) on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. “We are excited that Cosmos has selected downtown Renton for its newest project, which is a vital component of our downtown revitalization plans,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law . “Cosmos has designed a beautiful addition to our community, which will include the first new market-rate residential project developed in our downtown core since the recession. The Lofts at Second and Main will not only offer important new housing opportunities and amenities for urban living, but also provide modern commercial space for new businesses to locate downtown.” The Lofts at Second and Main will include 101 new one-, two- and three-bedroom units with lofts in a six-story building, and include underground and main level parking for residents, employees, and visitors. The building will also include 4,000 square feet of street-front retail space, along with a 5,000-square-foot outdoor residential amenity area on the second floor. The project architect is Jackson Main Architecture. The general contractor is Osborne Construction Company. The Lofts is scheduled for completion in winter 2016. The Lofts at Second and Main will join over 700 multi-family housing units (market-rate and affordable) constructed in downtown Renton between 2000 and 2010. During the summer and fall of 2016, the City of Renton plans to convert traffic on adjacent Main Avenue South between Mill Avenue South and South 3rd Street from one-way to two-way traffic. “Renton is gaining recognition with its vibrant urban core.
