Please call Commander Mike Luther at 425-430-7639 if you have any information. All calls will be kept anonymous. “We are very disheartened by this senseless act of vandalism that not only targets the library but is an outrage against the community,” said Mayor Denis Law. “The city has spent millions of dollars to revitalize the Sunset neighborhood and the new Renton Highlands library is one of the key assets we have invested in for this neighborhood. The entire community should be as outraged as we are and we hope someone will step forward with information on those responsible for this damage.” The new library building, currently under construction at 2801 NE 10th Street, was hit hard by vandals on Friday, August 8, and again on Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11. The glass window panes on the sides of the building were hit with a pellet or BB gun and have been shattered. The estimated damage caused by this vandalism is $100,000. Police have added extra patrols and additional security measures. For more information, visit rentonwa.gov. ###
