City Advises Political Sign Removal
November 17 Deadline
Renton, WA: To keep our community free of clutter and litter, candidates, and anyone responsible for
placing political campaign signs, are asked to remove the signs from private property and public right-
of-ways. Tuesday, November 17, is the deadline by which all campaign signs must be removed.
In 2011 the City of Renton updated codes and penalties for placement and removal of political signs
Per RMC 4-4-100.J.4, all political campaign signs need to be removed within 14 days following a
general election. After 14 days, the city may pick up and dispose of any such sign and candidates,
candidate representative, or proposition sponsor shall be subject to a monetary penalty of $100 per
sign, up to a total of $10,000, and loss of the signs.
