Ms. Bradley-Mak assumed her responsibilities on February 8, 2016, in anticipation of the retirement of Nancy Carlson. “We are very fortunate to have a professional with Ellen's experience join our team,” said Mayor Denis Law. “She understands the challenges of managing a growing and diverse work force and achieving our goal of being the most effective and efficient city government in the Puget Sound region." As a member of the executive management team and at the direction of the Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer, Bradley-Mak will provide executive leadership for all department personnel and activities. She will be responsible for providing human resource services, in addition to planning, organizing and directing departmental operations and functions and personnel policies and programs. Bradley-Mak’s background includes experience in state and municipal government, most recently with the City of Puyallup. Throughout her career, Bradley-Mak has managed employee training programs, employee conflict and investigations, and labor relations and contract negotiations. Ms. Bradley-Mak has two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Washington; one in Society and Justice, one in Sociology. She has also received a Senior Professional Human Resources certification from the Society of Human Resource Management. Bradley-Mak is looking forward to supporting the city’s mission of building an inclusive, informed city with opportunities for all. She has spent her professional life seeking continuous improvement and new challenges. Her leadership philosophy is one of collaboration, inclusiveness, open dialogue, and strong and effective partnerships.
