This will require removal of large trees and debris within 10 feet of the right of way on either side of each of the three bridges in order to provide clearance for the inspection of each structure. All equipment will remain within the roadway; hand tools will be used to cut trees. All cut trees will remain on-site for recruitment by the stream. On behalf of the City of Renton Public Works, we request your support in obtaining an exemption for the project from the Shoreline Substantial Development Permit, as it meets the requirements of WAC 173-27-040 (2-b)l: (b) Normal maintenance or repair of existing structures or developments, including damage by accident, fire or elements. "Normal maintenance" includes those usual acts to prevent a decline, lapse, or cessation from a lawfully established condition. "Normal repair" means to restore a development to a state comparable to its original condition, including but not limited to its size, shape, configuration, location and external appearance, within a reasonable period after decay or partial destruction, except where repair causes substantial adverse effects to shoreline resource or environment.
