A cost estimate and explanation will be provided to the requestor before incurring the costs. 2 Option to waive charges. The City may waive charges associated with fulfilling a request. The decision will be based on various factors, including the volume and format of the responsive documents. The decision to assess fees for fulfilling a public records request shall be made on a consistent and equitable basis, dependent primarily upon the amount of staff time required for copying, scanning, shipping, uploading, and/or transmitting the records associated with fulfilling a request. 3 Certified copies. If the requestor is seeking a certified copy of a City record, an additional charge of $1.00 per each complete document may be applied to cover the additional expense and time required for certification. *Should Section I fees due total less than $4.00 and no other fee is due to the City at the same time, the department administrator may authorize to waive the entire amount due at their discretion. For purposes of this section, "weekend" shall mean Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. "Weekday" shall mean the remaining four days of the week. "Junior" shall mean ages 17 and under, "Senior" shall mean ages 62 and over. This schedule establishes default base penalties for violations of the Renton Municipal Code that are issued as infractions under the authority of RCW 7.80 RCW, but these penalties do not include any state-imposed statutory assessments.
