i. WELCOME. INTRODULTION,WORDS FROM MAYOR
Terry HigaShiyama welcomed the Mayar and Jay Covington,the Board and Commission
members and their guests, and other dignitaries to the meeting. Mayor Law thanked the
Board members for#heir service. We noted his appreciatian for the hard working group of
people that�ol�nteer their time to contribute to t�e quality af life in our community. He
thanked 7erry for her efforts with the Boards and the in�olv�ment Community 5ervices has,
including th� many vfllunteers who help make this the best City! The mayor expfessed his
excitement about the upcoming year with the recent Boeing737 �ollout,t�ree hotels under
canstructian near The Landing,#he Highlands Library just upon campletion and the Sunset
Neighbarhood improvements,just tv name a few! He thanked all in attendance for t#�eir
caring in�ol�ement and time.
il. BOARD HIGWLIGHTS
Troy Wigestrand talked a�aut the many volunteer years and commitment such as his 15 years
wit� the Parks Commission, Marlene's four years, AI and Larry's nine years, and Cynthia,
Michael, and Tim all at 23 years. He talked about the life vest program,tF�e t�ails ar�d open
space and the dog parEc fence,just to name a few higF�lighted projects for 2015.
Erica Richey, Library Baard Chair, discussed some of the exciting events the Iibrary board
experienced this year including the opening of the new downtown library,the assistance with
the REACH library, 2015 Library Board goals including community suppork of REACH,
participate in Neighborhood Picnics �rogram and Renton Ri�er Days.
Ilf. MUSEUM UPDATE
Elizabeth Stewart, Museum Manager, wefcomed the Board and staff ta the Museum. She
expressed how�appy sh� was to host the Holiday meeting each year giving all the
opportunity ta visit the museum and see their newe5t exhibit. She also commented on a few
different exhibits they ha�e had and the grant for the future lobby remodel project.
