CALL TO ORDER In Attendance• Members: Marlene Winter, Cynthia Burns,AI Dieckman, Larry Reymann,Shun Takano, and Troy Wigestrand City Staff: Kelly Beymer, Leslie Betlach, Cailin Hunsaker, Roberta Graver. Chair Marlene Winter called the meeting to order at 4:30pm. Roll call was taken.All board commissioners were present except for Tim Searing and Cynthia Burns. Larry Reymann made a motion to excuse Tim Searing;Troy Wigestrand seconded, all were in favor, motion carried.Troy Wigestrand motioned to excuse Cynthia Burns who had not reported her absence in advance, Larry Reymann seconded, all were in favor, motion passed. Cynthia Burns arrived at 4:37pm. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Larry Reymann made a motion to approve the agenda as presented,AI Dieckman seconded; all were in favor, motion carried, and the agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES AI Dieckman made a clarification in the January 9th minutes. AI did not make and second the motion to approve the minutes. AI motioned to approve the minutes as approved; Larry Reymann seconded, all were in favor, motion carried, and the minutes were approved as corrected. 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC COMMENTS Two high school students introduced themselves as observers of the Parks Commission Board process. 5. BOARD COMMUNICATION Benson Hill Community Plan Advisory Board— No report. Other—Marlene reminded the board that Free Microchipping of cats and dogs is still available for Renton Residents at Eastside Veterinary Associates.There was also concern voiced about the vehicle and bicycle crossing of the Eastside Rail Corridor Trail, north of Gene Coulon Park. Cailin is communicating with Erica Jacobs with King County about signage.The speed limit on the trail within City limits will be posted 10mph (per Renton City Park Rules and Regulations) even though the trail outside the city limits will be posted 15mph. 6. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS a. New City Website Update—Dave Neubert The new website was designed with the user in mind for easily maneuvering around the site.This viewer-focus design led to a streamlined organization,consistent page layout design and ease of finding things via a robust search engine. It's visually-oriented with more photo icon links, scrolling photo displays,and current calendars that link to the main city calendar on the main page.There will be broad user-analytics that stafF can evaluate for page usage and popularity.A board member offered a suggestion that a there be a link from each park page (that has a rentable shelter)to the shelter reservation page. Another person suggested that the calendar list of events include the day of the week as well as the date. Dave clarified that when an event is clicked on in the list of events, it opens in a calendar layout,showing the event on the calendar.Thus one can see the day of the week. � Wheelchair Accessible.American Sign Language(ASL)interpreter available upon request. May Creek Trail Acquisition—Leslie Betlach Washington Department of Transportation(WSDOT) is in negotiations for mitigating use of(proposed acquisition of) a portion of city-owned property(near the northbound Exit 7 off ramp)for a new off ramp. In the Letter of Intent,WSDOT will build a trail under 405 connecting the current May Creek Trail on the west side of I-405 to property on the east side of the freeway to Jones Avenue.The trail portion of the overall freeway expansion is projected to be completed in 2024. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT a. Community Services Year in Review—Kelly Beymer Kelly provided highlights from the council presentation she gave in February.Staff will provide this PowerPoint presentation, as well as the current department organization chart at the next meeting. 7. OLD BUSINE55 a. Custer Facility Re-naming—The city will be pursuing the next steps in this process. b. Bylaws Update—Kelly Beymer will schedule to meet with AI and Troy to review and update the bylaws. c. Student Boardmember Vacancy—There are currently two student applications on file.A board member proposed inviting both applicants to join as student board members.Staff will clarify with the municipal code if that's possible. 8. INFORMATION Flyers and handouts for upcoming department's programs and events were distributed. 9. ADJOURNMENT Larry Reymann motioned to adjourn; Troy Wigestrand seconded, and all were in favor.
