Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by RMAC Chair, Neil Sheesley at 6:00 pm.
Emilio briefly introduced himself as the new President for Arts Unlimited of Renton. The group
has a new board and is making plans this year for more events in Renton, including an art show
at Summerfest and plans for a fashion show at the Pavilion. He introduced Linda Lowry who
works with Fashion Lab Seattle to organize shows at the Columbia Tower Club. Arts Unlimited
will be hosting several meet and greet events at the old Drapery Building in Renton and will
reach out to the Arts Commission for participation and future collaborations.
Anthony Marris-Swann is working with the City of Renton to organize a grand opening event for
Sunset Park in the Renton Highlands. As part of the celebration, Anthony and his team are
organizing a sidewalk chalk project that will engage the community in the creation of a
temporary art project in front of the Highlands Library. Anthony requested support from the
Arts Commission to fund the $1,500 project. The Commission recommended that Anthony
reach out to other City departments for potential funding (Neighborhood program, Parks, CED).
A motion was made to approve funding a portion of the Chalk Project with a commitment of
$500 with the understanding that future support is available if funding cannot be confirmed
from other sources first. MSC(Mary/Evelyn)
Approval of Minutes: The March 2018 minutes were read and approved MSC(Mary/Evelyn)
Correspondence and Announcements:
• A letter of gratitude for his service on the Arts Commission was circulated and signed
and will be sent to Ben Andrews.

New Business:
Galvanizin�Art Prolects:
• Artist Guest Lecture Series— Kim Patterson presented the idea of a free "Pop Up" Artist
lecture series that will connect local artists with community members to learn and
create art in various forms and using a variety of inediums. She proposed an initial 3
workshops that would include glassblowing [at the Renton Art & Glass Studio] and 2
painting workshops held at Martin Luther King Baptist Church. Kim is requesting$2,678
to cover the cost of the 3 workshops. The Commission requested that Kim submit a GAP
application for consideration and approval of funding.
• Carco Mural Project—Cassie Welliver at Carco Theatre is interested in the creation of a
mural on the back exterior of the theatre and has reached out to the Arts Commission
for assistance organizing a community art project. The Commission has requested more
information and will work with Carco Theatre to make future plans.
• Boone Kirkman mural—The project has not yet identified a wall for this project. A call
for artists will go out once a location has been confirmed.
Meetin�with Committee of the Whole:The Arts Commission will be meeting for a joint session
with the Committee of the Whole on Monday, April 9t"at 6:OOpm. The PowerPoint presentation
created for the meeting was viewed.The presentation was divided between Commissioners
who will present on Monday.
