AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON AND CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES
AND ARISE MEN'S SHELTER
FOR TEMPORARY USE 300 RAINIER AVENUE N FACILITY
WHEREAS, the City of Renton (City) owns the building located at 300 Rainier Avenue N
which is currently being used by the REACH Meal Coalition Monday— Friday from 8-10 a.m. and
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:30- 6:30 pm. The building will be available for use by ARISE
from 8:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. for the month of July, 2018.
WHEREAS, Catholic Community Services (CCS) and ARISE Men's Shelter wishes to use the
building to provide temporary nighttime only shelter, food and case management for up to 25
homeless men.
WHEREAS, the City is willing to allow such use under the terms and conditions set forth
below;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City, Catholic Community Services and ARISE Men's Shelter do
agree as follows:
1. The City hereby agrees to allow the Catholic Community Services and ARISE Men's
Shelter to use the building located at 300 Rainier Avenue N. for a nighttime only shelter for the
period of July 1, 2018 through July 31, 2018, between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.
2. The use of the building shall be at no cost to the Catholic Community Services and
ARISE Men's Shelter.
3. CCS shall have a staff member(s) on site while the shelter is in operation. Upon
leaving the building staff shall secure the building any time REACH meal coalition staff are not
onsite to assume the building security.
4 CCS accepts the building for its use on an As Is/Where Is basis having inspected the
building and noted any issues related to its use and safety.
5. CCS and ARISE Men's Shelter agree to indemnify and hold the City harmless from any
claims, suits or damages, including attorneys'fees, arising in any way out of or from the Catholic
Community Services and ARISE Men's Shelter's use of the building. This indemnity shall include
any claim made under Title 51 RCW by an employee or volunteer of the Catholic Community
Services and ARISE Men's Shelter. This provision has been negotiated between the parties.
6. CCS and ARISE Men's Shelter shall leave the premises in the same or better condition
than it was received. Catholic Community Services will provide the custodial maintenance (daily

cleaning) of the building and the bathrooms shall be thoroughly cleaned and the entire building
swept and, where necessary, mopped.
7. CCS and ARISE Men's Shelter shall be responsible for any damages caused to City
property or facilities.
8. CCS and ARISE Men's Shelter shall carry liability insurance in the amount of$1,000,000
per occurrence and $2,000,000 cumulative and shall name the City as an additional insured. CCS
and ARISE Men's Shelter shall also provide such Worker's Compensation Coverage or self-
insurance as required by state law.
9. CCS and ARISE Men's Shelter shall be responsible for their own property including personal
property of any of their users.
