It is a three span bridge that crosses over the Cedar River. The project will remove the existing paint from the steel girders, repair corrosion damage and apply a new protective paint system. The project will also perform a seismic analysis and retrofit along with other improvements. The main span is carried by steel girders. The girders are coated with paint to protect the steel from corrosion. Corrosion causes section loss which results in a reduced load carrying capacity of the girders. The existing paint is failing. The bridge is located in a zone of moderate to high liquefication susceptibility during seismic events. New project. In late 2017, the project was awarded a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grant of $2,985,000 to perform a seismic retrofit and painting of the bridge. A 13.5% local match is required for Preliminary Engineering and ROW. If construction is authorized by December 2020, the project is eligible for 100% FHWA funding for eligible costs. 3,280,450 - Project Expenditures & Resources Programmed Programmed Pre-2019 Six-Year Program
