5. Elec�ronic Fundin A lication: A mee�ing was he�d with the Sout� Ki�g County Human Services
Planners to discuss the efectronic��ndir�g aPpiication that tf�e East/North part o�F lCing County does
through EGov Alliar�ce. Cities and ageneies are generally supportiv� of the existing format, and f�w
c�anges wili need to be mad�. Agencies are excited abau�the pros�ect of a common a�plication that
can be used thraughout King County, anc#the data can �Isa be saved and used again.
6. Upda#es;
a) Cu�turaE Liaison Cammittee: Mayor Law wants to establish a relatianshi�with representatives of
di�erse communities in Renton to improve Gommunication about public events such as swine flu, -
and also#o solicit feedback on how tf�e City can do business witi� thes� diverse cuitures. An
AmeriCorps voltrnteer, Maria M�rto, has been hired to work with the Mayor on developing these
relatianships.

; � y pper for th� Homefess: #�enton curr�nt�y does r�at have a hot rneal pragram like
other communities. 7he only thir�g we have is fhe Friendly KitcF�er�,which �Orovides dinner once a
week, on Thursday, �n the High�ancfs. It is the first step in providing a range of ser►rices to t�e
homefess population—as mabife services, like the heafth care van,have faund that�t is best to link
to services like community suppers. The 5al�ation Army received permission to pro►ride this service,
and it will be iocated at 720 S.Tabin (centrally located, near a bus-1�ne,the homeless know how to
get there,and it�as a farge kitchen). Captain Masanga will #�e coardinating this effort,with help
#com the r�li�ious cornmunity, and Jasan Jahnson.
c) Renton Housi�g AuthorEty(RHA): Karen gave an update on#he work she is doing with RHA. RHA is
par-tnering wi�h Cat�olic Community Services on a �roposal to provide 1� u�its of haUsir�g&
swpportive services to#he homeless popwlation. RHA is also proposing to build 144 units of housi�g
at Edmonds, and Karer� has matched tF�ern with patentiaf service providers�or the Qh units that "
wautd senre the hamei�ss. RHA has nat haci a regional prese�ce; and tCaren is working with th�m�o
.increase their visib.ility ancf to improve thetr chances o'f ge#ting funding for tt�e redevelopment of
Sunse�Terrace. ,
d} �ummer Luhc� Program: The partnership betwe�n City o#Rentan staff,th� Rer�tor�Sc�oo! District,
ar�d commur�ity sites was higf�iy successful. TF�ere were �.1,264 meals served at 15 sites this
st�mmer.Several of the�t��sie�t sites(Mapiewoad Apartments; Creston Point, and Highlands
� Community Cl�urch) have ind'icated that they want to participate in the prograrn again next year.
Dianne is planning to ge#started earlier�text pear in an effort to pro�id�sup�ort to the apartment
commun'rties because they had ongoing issues with staffi�g.
