CALL TO�RDER: The April 10, 2D0$, meeting of the Library Board at the Renton �ublic Library was cailed to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: John DuBois MOVED THAT THE AGENDA FOR April 10, 2008, be approved. SECONDED by Amy Pieper. The motion CARRIED. 3. REVIEW OF MINUTES: Amy Pieper M�VED THAT THE MiNUTES OF March l3, 2008, be appro�ed. SECONDED by John DuBois. The motion CARRIED. �. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. COMMUNICATIONS: Library Directar, Bette Anderson, distributed information from the Washington State Library to Board Members abouc upcoming partnership training. 6. FINANCIAL REPORT: The March 2008 Renton Public I.ibrary Expenditure Statlrs Report was distributed to Board Members. The Board finds the new Expenditure Status Report confusing and would like to see the break-out of the OfficelOperating 5upplies Accounc we track using Eden's project management module. 7. MONTHLY REPORT: STATISTICS—The March 2005 Rentorr Public Lihrary Statistics report was distributed to the Boarc3 (copies are attached to these minutes). Circulation increased 11% over March 2Q07. LOST ITEMS—Library materials checked out and not returned are shown in the circulation record under 'lost status'. Out of our 189,000-item colIection lO,OI 1 items (5.3%) are currentiy in lost status. Most libraries consider l2 to l6% an acceptabla rate, and we are well below the average loss rate. 1 RENTON PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING—April lU, 2aQ$ 8. OLD BUSINESS: PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOC1AT10N (PLA)CONFERENCE-Library Director, Bette Anderso�, and Assistant Library Director, Aaron Oesting,attended PLA in Min�esota the week of March 24,2008. Bette distributed conference reports to Bo�rd Memher� and said they both fe�t the conference was well worth attending. MASTER PLAN—The draft is expected to be ready for review by City Administration within the next 2 weeks�nd should be ready For presentation to the Renton City Council in May. TALK TIME—Weekly practice sessions for people learning English are averaging MG parttcipants. Two regu�af.�ttendees credit the Talk-Times with improving their skills enoug� t� enab�e them tn qualify for a Renton Technical Callege level-3 English class. 9, NEW BUSINESS: VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION BANQU�:T— The annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet wilj be Wednesday,Ap�il 30, 6:�5-Spm at the Senior Activity Center. Board Members were inv�ted to save the date. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE{ESL)CLASS�A beginning level E5L c�ass f��� beg�tn meeting at the Library nn Mondays and Thurs�lays, G:3U-$pm.
