Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting Report Renton City Hall Council Conference Room, 7th Floor May 16th, 2017 3:00 p.m. ATTENDANCE: Brook Dodd, Leslie Anderson,Teresa Kenney,Tina Harris,Joanie Howe, Brandy Brown, Cynthia Jones Excused:Sheila Houston; Krista Townsend,Amy Koehl Absent: Staff: Guy Williams, Dianne Utecht,Jeannie Gabriel, Agency Presentation: Children's Therapy Center was founded by 3 ladies wanting to help children with disabilities. First office opened 40 years ago in Kent. Currently has 3 office locations Kent, Burien,Tacoma and will be opening a new location in Black Diamond. 16 percent of babies are born with disabilities that Children's Therapy Center provides help with. Majority of patients are referred by pediatricians within the ages of 0-18 years of age. 60 percent are low income families and 3 thousand families yearly.Therapist do services at home with parents who has children under the age of 3. Families with children over 3 are seen at the center. Currently has a waiting list of 700 children to be seen. Most of the fund they receive are for children under 3, and funding for children from ages 3-18 drop. 1. Approval of Previous Minutes: Moved by Teresa,seconded by Leslie; with corrections for Cynthia Jones on last month's minutes. 2. Homelessness Task Force Concept: Would any of Human Services Advisory Committee be interested to take on this task? Guy will get more information about how our committee would be able to help. Cynthia will do more research on "homelessness task force". 3. Review/refresher for application process: Supplemental questions all needs to be answered by agencies. Financial review on application rating tool, Dianne will change number 1 and will send out to committee. Committee will read and rate the changes at home. During next meeting we will all go over rating tool and scores. 4. Mission/Vision Statement Finalize:Teresa Kenny provided us with what she believes would be great for our mission/vision. Mission:To connect people with resources and solutions during times of need through community partnerships that promote timely access to services and opportunities to empower them to make choices for a safe, healthy and secure lifestyle at home and in the community. Vision:All Renton residents may have the opportunity to live in a healthy, social thriving and inclusive community that enriches the quality of life for all residents. We will go over mission and vision during next month's meeting after committee has a change to read over Teresa's mission/vision. Next meeting:June 20, 2017 committee will go over rating tool/scoring,site visits, mission/vision. South King County Human Services Luncheon is on June 27, 2017 from 11AM-1:30PM. Cynthia,Teresa,loanie and Brook are interested in attending.
