APPROVAL OF MINUTES Marge Richter made a motion seconded by Ron Regis to approve the December minutes as written. AU were in favor; motion carri�d the December 2001 minutes were approved. CONSENT Jim Shepherd reviewed tF�e following requests and staff recommendations for each: The Renton Rotary Club of Renton has reserved the community center for their annual auction an Saturday, March 23, 20�2. In order to maximize t�e amount of resources that can be invested directly back in#o the Renton Community they are requesting waiv�r of the usual rental fee. Staff recommends approval of this request and requests Mr. Wheeler contact Shirley Andersan one month in advance to coordinate the final details. Toni Nelson, Farmers' Market Committee Chair, requested wai�er of fees for use of#he Piazza each Tuesday from June 18�' thru September 3� (12 weeks in all.) The market will run from 4 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with set-up and breakdown time requited. Each grower will provide his or her own tahle a�d tent and will set and clean-up before and after each market. Staff recommends approval with the following contingencies: City of Renton Park Baard Minutes January 8, 2002 ■ The transit center restrooms will be a�ailable for use (rather#han use sani-cans) � NO vehicles a4lowed i� the park ■ Park staff will bring in additional litter receptacles for �se, but the �olunteers will be responsible #or ensuring the park is picked up at the conclusion of each event ■ In the event, tables, chairs and tents are needed, the Farmers' Market Committee will be respansible for security of such items, setting them up and taking them down. Nancy Hoben was present to answer questions on behalf of the committee. She explained the booths would be for#ood, mainly fruits and vegetables, no a�ts and crafts. They hope #o bring in 'specialty boaths' such as a master gardener, heaSth booth, chef, Etc. The Board discussed policies regarding waiving fe�s. Cynthia Bums made a motion to appror�e the two �equests witF� s#ipulations noted by staff. Ron Regis seconded the motion. All were in fa�or, motion carried, requests appro�ed. Troy Wigestrand requested a tee schedule for the �arks and shelters at the next meeting. OLD BUSINESS Parks Comprehensi�e Plan A bound draft of the comprehensi�e park plan was distributed by Tom Beckwith. He re��ewed the new chapters and #he corrections made since the last workshop. He explained #he graphics wifl be clearter in tF�e final version and h� still needed to do some editing on the trails section. He felt that we should consider making this document available on the web and peri�aps print out excerpts of the document for people interested in perhaps just one aspec# of the �lan (example listing of ail schools or bal� fi�lds or parks in the area). Jim explained at the next meeting the Board could foflow up with questions, o�ce they have had an opportunity to re�iew the materiais. We will discuss if they are ready to approve fhe plan at that time. Proposed locations for 2002 meetings. The members discussed merits of ha�ing the meet�ngs at one loca#ion and ha�ing the opportur�ity to �isit other facilities. Marge Richter made a motion to hold all the mee#ings for 2002 a# city hall. TF�e motion was seconded by Ralph E�ans. All were in favor, except Ron Regis. Mo#ion carried. The remainder of the meetings#or 2002 wil! be held at city hall'. Sandy will check availability for rooms and notify staff and the board of the location. City oF Renton Park Board Minutes lanuary 8, 2002 Liberty Park Conceptuai Plan Leslie Bet�ach, Parks Director, reviewed the revisions of the conceptual plan for Liberty Park. The new walkway will discourage skateboarders. Ralph Evans made a motion seconded by Cynthia Burns to appro�e the plan. Motion carried, plan approved. ADJOURNMENT Ron Regis made a motion seconded by Mike O'Donin to adjourn the meet�ng. All were in favor, motion carried.
