APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ron Regis made a motion seconded by Michael O'Donin to approve the May minutes as submi�ted. All present were in favor, motion carried, minutes approved. ANNOUNCEMENTS Jerry Rerecich, Recreation Manager, reviewed changes in t�ar's menu board and the order bar. They are also doing some painting at the facility. Pictures were shared from the QWest Easter Egg Hunt for the blind. Jerry also distributed parking passes for July 4�h. CORRESPONDENCE Mr. Culp reviewed two letters of correspondence. The first from Jan Koch of Kent congratulating those involved with the Memorial Park. The second card was from Jim ShepY�erd thanking those who participated in his retiremer�t celebrations. CONSENT Mr. Cu[p re�iewed the following requests: A. St. Luke's Episcopal Church requested sched�ling Jones Park for a cookout on Sunday, June 29th, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. They plan to bring over tables and chairs from their church. Liberty High School Boy's Gol� team reques�ed pertnission to use the golf course facilities for their 2003 fall season. Staff recommends appro�a� contingent on coordination with Go1f Course Manager, Kelly Beymer, and agreemen# to comply with rules outlined by the staff. C. Shirley Dow, Blacks in Go�emm�nt Region Ten, is using Gene Coulon Park north shelter on .3une 28"' for a barbe�ue and Kid's Day. They are requesting to use speakers to announce games as welj as music. S#aff does not recommend appro�al of amplified music and annauncements, D. Ruth Sine req�ested to hvld theEr picnic at L�berty Park on July 12�h and utilize the services of a caterer and �a�e an inflatablE. Staff recommends appro�al contingent on providing a cerF�fica#e of insurance naming the City of Renton as a co-insured. E. Our Place After School Center requested to �a�e their "Summer Kick Off" party at Tom Teasdale Park on Monday, June 23, 2003p They would like to use an inflatable jumping toy alsa� Staff recommends appro�al of this request contingent on providing insurance as recommended by our Risk Management Department. F. Kelly Ringoen, Boeing Indus#rial Engineering, requested tc� have a caterer at their picnic at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park south shelters on Friday, August 15�. Staff recommends appro�al, however, #he catering �eh�c�e must remain in the parking lot. G. Eva Hosek requested to hold her wedding ceremony by tY�e river at Cedar Ri�er Park on July 5, 2003. They have resen�ed the center for their wedding reception immediately following the ceremony. They understand they ca�not use our chairs and must clean up after the even#. Staff recommends approval of this �equest. H. Alex Pietsch, Administrator Economic Development, request�d to �tilize the Piazza Park for eight Saturday e�enings in ,�uly and August ta show fre� family- oriented films in the park at dusk and wai�er of fees for use of the park, Live music would also be played to entertain the crowds as they gather. Ivar's wili provide a trai[er from which it will sell clam chowder, as well as popcom and other refreshments. Their reques# includes waiver of fees, playing of music and operating a mobile concession in the �ark. Staff recommends approval of the wai�er of fees and operation of the sale of food, noting on the sal� of food there is a need to coordinate with Risk Management to ensure health regulations and that the city's insurance requirements are met. Staff requests the event coordinators are mindful of the volume level of tF�e music and mo�ie t�a# could Ro#er�tially disturb neigY�boring residents. All present were fn favor, mation carried, consent agenda approved. OLD BUSINESS As a folfow-up to last manth's meetir�g discussing waiver of f�es for high school golf programs, Kelly Beymer, Golf Course Manager, presented data comparing several neighboring goEf courses and t�e corresponding benefits provided to schaof golf teams. This was for informational purposes only and out�ined the golf course, number of schools accommodatEd, fees, use ot driving range and number of practices. OTHER Syl�ia Allen, Recreation Director, reported on the successful Special Olympics e�ents Y�eld at Fort Lewis. Our staff is also casting for the summer teen musical which th�s year will be Cinderella. Updates were also given on the Liberty Park construction. ADJQURNMENT Tim Searing made a motion seconded by Marg� Richter to adjourn the meeting.
