All were in fa�or, motion carried, minutes appro�ed. AUDIENCE C�MMENT Leslie Betlach, Parks Director, introduced Jean Hobart of the Non-Motorized Transpor�ation Committee. ANNOUNCEMENTS Sylvia Allen noted we received 37Q applications for lifeguards and 100 for four vacancies in our day camp pragram. The first year the pool is open will be a trial to set guideEines for following years. We will tend to be overstaffed tF�is first year to ensure adequate co�erage. Mr. Culp also ramarked the plaque s�ould be ready in time for the grand opening. CORRESPONDENCE Mr. Culp reviewed three letters from Aiexi G�ersh, Collin Murphy and Denise Anderson. City�f Renton Park Board Agenda May F 1, 2004 Page 2 of 3 CONSENT Dennis Culp reviewed the items submitted for the consent agenda and aslced ifi there were any questions. Jerry Rerecich discussed the hydroplane races and expiained the request was consistent with years past. Michael O'Danin questioned what incentive there is for the City to host this e�ent and waive the fees. Mr. Culp explained we ha�e wai�ed the fees for this group in the past and it is a great e�ent for our community but the City is beginning to have con�ersations on wY�at �he appropriate criteria is to warrant waiving �ees for eventslgroups. Michael suggested per�aps partial fee waiver �o offs�t upkeepllabor costs. Ralph E�ans made a motion to adapt the consent agenda with staff recommenda�ions. Ron Regis seconded by motion, alI were in fa�or, motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Jerry Rerecich �iscussed th� Liberty Park concession and the new cor�cessionaires' desire to extend her contract. 5he made a significant in�estment to purchase an espresso machine ar�d has made efforts to make the cancessfon stand successful. Ron Regis made a motion to extend her contract #o three years fhru 2008. Ralph Evans seconded the motion, all present were in favor, motion carried� NEW BUSINESS The additional re�enue from Ivar's was reviewed and the proposal of how #o allocate these funds. Michael O'Donin made a motion to appro�e the alloca#ion, Ron Regis seconded by motion, All were in fa�or, motior� carried. OTHER Ralph E�ans asked for an update on #he Boatstock request made and reviewed at t�e prior me�ting. Mr. Culp explained the group had been notified and the conting�ncies explained to them. Cynthia Burns asked for an update on t�e teen musical. Sylvia Allen explained they were not going to be able to perform Grease as planned and are checking into other productions. There was further discussion on the Tim Eyman initiative and po#ential impact on our budget, parking challenges at the new aquatics center and the golf course.
