All present were in favor, motion carried, minutes approved. AUDIENCE COMMENT Diana Postelwaite and Doug Kyes were in attendance (representing the Piazza Group} to disccass cancems they had about dogs being present in the park during special e�ents, especially Farmer's Market. They felt it was unsanitary to have animals around ti�e food and had wi#nessed pet owners allowing their dogs to sniff the bread, etc. They also have seen one dog attack a bay and one aftemoon there was a dogfight. The Farmers Market is very popular and draws many people to a small area, adding the mix of pets in the confined area seems to be creating problems. Michael O'Donin, Chair, encouraged the Piazza group and Farmers Market vendors to address a formal letter to the Board reques#ing CEty of�Centon Park Board Minutes September 14, 2004 �age 2 of 3 action to reso�ve this concem. Staff will in�estigate the health department regulations and the passibility of amending the current park rules whicl� allows dogs on leashes at the P�aua, to be amended for certain special events {such as Farmer's Market). ANNOUNCEMENTS �ferry Rerecich introduced Jennifer Cadwell, Recreation Specialis#, at the Community Cen#er. The Sen�or Acti�ity Center 25'h anR'rversary was announced to be h�ld on Sunday, September 26tn CORRESPONDENCE Mr. Culp reviewed three items of correspondence received this month. The Parks Di�ision recei�ed the 2004 Local Government Conservation Award for its initiati�e and support on habitat enhancement work a# the Blac�c River Riparian Forest. �'he second letter from Michael Campbell, President Northwest Marine Trade Association, thanked us for our assistance in making the second annual Boatstock a great success. Mr. Cu�p commented he anticipated this group to be back next year with a simi�ar or expanded request: The last ietter was from a participant of one of our Kidz Kamps tha# had a pasitive experience and are anxious to participate again nExt year. CONSENT Diana Postlewait, E�ent Chair, was present to finalize details for the annual Harrrest Festival fo be held at the Piazza. T�e g�oup currently has permission for this festi�al but may need additional assistance and need to request equipment or resources. Diana will coordinate any assistance needed with Jerry Rerecich, Recreation Manager. Cynthia Burns made a motion to approve the request; the mo#ior� was seconded by Marge Richter. All were ir� fa�or, motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Syl�ia Allen, Recreation Director, discussed preliminary figures regarding the pool's opening season. The staff was �ery pleased with the numbers and making the operation more efficient next year. The waitEng list for memorial trees at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park is finally fulfilled. Staff will be bringing back the topic to a future board meeting to discuss if the Board wis�es to co�tinue this program at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park or suspend it.
