Renton History Museum

I. WELCOME, INTRODUGTION,WORDS FROM MAYOR
Terry Higashiyama welcomed the Mayor and Jay Covington and other dignitaries#o the
meeting. Mayor Law thanked the Board members for their ser�ice. Ne noted his
appreciation for the hard working group of peflple that volunteer their time to contribute#o
the quality af Iife in our community. He thanked Terry for her efforts with the Boards and the
inrrol�ement Community 5er�ices has, including the many volunteers who help make tF�is the
best City! The mayor expressed his excitement about the upcoming year with the recent
Baeing737 rollout,three F�otels under construction near The Landing,the Highlands �ibrary
just upon completion and the S�nset Neighborhood improvements,just to name a few! He
thanked all in attendance for their caring in�olvement and time.
II. BOARD HtGHLIGHTS
Troy talked ahout the num�er af years and commitment with the Parks Commis5ion such as
F�is nine years, Marlene's four years, Larry`s 15 years, Cynthia at 23 years etc. He talked about
the life vest prflgram,the trails and open space and the dog park fence,just to name a few
highlighted projects for 2D15.
Erica Richey, Library Board Chair, discussed some of the exciting event5 the lihrary hoard
experienced thi5 year including the opening of the new downtown library,the assistance with
the REACH library, 2015 Lil�rary Board goals incfuding community support of REACH,
participa�e in Neighborhoad Picnics program and Renton River Days.
III. MU5EUM UPDATE
Elizabeth Stewart, Museum Manager, welcomed the Board and staffto the MuSeum. She
expressed how happy she was to hast the Holiday meeting each year gi�ing all the
opportunity to visit the museum and see their newest exhibit. She also commented on a few
different exhi ' ey have had and the grant for the future lobby remodel praject.
