Johnson <JTJohnson@Rentonwa.gov> Subject: Alpine Nursery PSE Undergrounding and 161st Paving Paul – The City has reviewed your email regarding the PSE undergrounding for SE 144th Street. The City concurs that the project would be exempt from undergrounding the power poles along SE 144th Street under exception 1.f - Replacement of overhead facilities for a distance of three (3) or more spans (four (4) poles). Since there is the potential for future development along SE 144th Street and 160th Ave SE, the applicant would be required to install conduit in accordance with exemption 1.g along the frontages of SE 144th Street and 160th Ave SE. With regards to the pavement subgrade and base course layer for the proposed improvements to 161st Ave SE, we concur that the existing native materials will provide an adequate subgrade for the portions of SE 161st Street which have been impacted as a result of the water line relocation. The portions of 161st Ave SE to receive the full grind and overlay of the existing 2” HMA can be rehabilitated using a new 4-inch HMA asphalt surface above the native soil subgrade per the geotechnical recommendations provided by Tracy from Team Nelson, dated 3/31/2017. The remaining portions of 161st Ave SE shall be installed per plan. ~Thanks Ann Fowler Civil Engineer II Department of Community and Economic Development City of Renton | 1055 South Grady Way, 6th Floor | Renton, WA 98057 Phone: 425-430-7382 | Fax: 425-430-7300 E-Mail: afowler@rentonwa.gov Website: www.rentonwa.gov P Please consider the environment before printing this email
