HomeMy WebLinkAboutHohlbein attachment - Maple Highlands Plat i February 18, 2019 i RE: Maple Highland Plat Hearing from February 12, 2019 My name is Michelle Hohlbein and I live on the corner of SE 135`" St. and 164`^for the past 14 years. Opening traffic from 164`" to SE 135`h St. would have a direct impact on my property. First off since I am on the corner anyone travelling south on 164`h would have to take a hard left onto SE 135"'St. which could result in someone missing the turn and crashing into my property. It also puts headlights into my bedroom for everyone who is coming that direction. Our street is very narrow and two cars passing each other is very difficult and to widen the road wide enough for two-way traffic would be a very big and destructive impact on all our property of those who live on SE 135"'St. We now have little kids on our street and animals that are not accustomed to traffic and increase the traffic volume would reduce the quality of living in our neighborhood. Right now, especially during the summer we get a lot of traffic from parents and kids who are trying to gain access to the Liberty High School baseball fields. On any weekend day where there are games, I could easily count twenty or more vehicles traveling at high speed going up our street only to find that it is a dead end turning around and racing back down the street. This is dangerous and if the city or someone could install better signage that states no ball field access that would be very much appreciated. ' I would also like to point out that opening SE 135`h up to have direct access to Liberty High School is not the safest route in my opinion since if you were traveling south on 164`h you would have to take a sharp left onto SE 135"'then at the bottom you take a sharp right onto 166`h then a sharp left onto 136`h these are both blind corners and create hazards that can be avoided. Any alternative would be better to avoid the sharp tums or blind corners. Question about the sewer, when they bring this through our neighborhood who pays for it? Will we the residents of SE 135`" be required to pay for the sewer line that runs in front of our property? My lot runs horizontally to SE 135`"where everyone else's lots runs vertically so my distance is extreme compared to the others. Are we required to hook up now? I would like more information. I would like to thank you for your time and for leaving this hearing open due to the power outage and ' snow storm.
