The fence boards are 5 feet in height and a lattice top adds another foot - making the total height 6 feet. The fence's materials consist of unfinished cedar. There Is a 3-foot wide landscaped area in between the fence and property line and the planting consists of boxwood shrubs. There Is Clear Vision Area requirement since the property is not on a corner lot. On or about January, 2007, 1 contracted with a fence company to build a fence on my property. After numerous incidents of persons loitering in front of my house, garbage on my lawn, animals defecating on my lawn, an incident where a drunken individual was pounding on my door at 3.00 a.m. in the morning, gang activity, and people drinking and doing drugs in front of my house, I felt that I needed a substantial barrier to buffer me from these types of activities and encroachments on my property. I was also informed by my neighbor that prior to purchase in 2003 that my house had been broken into two times and felt that a fence would also create a barrier to someone who might want to break in again. Lastly, my neighbors have a collection of broken down vehicles on their property as well as a full size 1950's commercial bus which I prefer to shield from the view on my property. On or about March 22, 2008 1 received the enclosed notice indicating that my fence was too high, in violation of Renton Municipal Code 4-4-040D 2 c. The letter indicated that I could submit a Special Fence Permit Application and that if approved, my fence could remain. Queen Avenue NE (South) accessed from 7`" Street is a dead end and ends at the white barrier at the top of my driveway. This is not a thoroughfare and is not a corner lot g y guirement does not apply• Once you intersecting an other street. The clear vision re reach the edge of my property, Queen Avenue NE decreases in size to half as wide. There is a path connecting Queen Avenue NE to where Queen Avenue NE begins again and meets 7`h Place. The only residence accessible by the portion of Queen Avenue NE running parallel to my fence is my house. No other cars use this portion of Queen Avenue NE other than me and my guests. The subject fence is 5 feet tall with a 1 foot lattice „top making the entire fence 6 feet tall from around to its highest point. It 132.5„lineal feet. It is made out of natural cedar and is similar to other fences built in the Renton Hiahlands area. The fence cost $4,000 to build and is professionally constructed. There are boxwood shrubs planted in the portion of my property located between the fence and Queen Avenue NE. This fence has significantly decreased the negative events and elements listed above. Removal or a heiaht reduction of the fence would be a significant financial burden. Thank you for your attention to this matter and 1 look forward to a decision on my permit application.
