THE CONTRACT IS MODIFIED AS FOLLOWS:
Description of Change:
HMA modifications. Engineer has requested to change the number of EAALs in the mix
design for Bid Item 20 HMA CI. h" PG 64-22 from (0.3 to <3 million)to (3 to <30
million). Replace the first paragraph of Section 5-04.2(2) Mix Design—Obtaining Project
Approval with the following:
The number of ESALs for the design and acceptance of the HMA shall be 3 to<30
million.
CSTC modifications. Contractor has requested to use Crushed Surfacing Base Course
(CSBC) in lieu of Crushed Surfacing Top Course (CSTC) in some areas.These areas are
below cement concrete traffic and pedestrian islands,cement concrete sidewalks,
cement concrete curb ramps, cement concrete driveway entrances, and cement
concrete driveway repair areas.These areas also include below and behind cement
concrete curb and gutter, below the HMA within pavement repair areas, and below and
behind modular block wall units.
Tapping Sleeve and Valve Assembly modifications. Engineer has requested the
Tapping Sleeve and Valve Assembly shall be modified so that a portion of the work is
completed as a City Water Utility contractor installed connection. The following is
supplemented to Section 7-12.3:
The Tapping Sleeve and Valve Assembly work by the Contractor shall include excavation,
removal of excess or unsuitable trench excavation material,dewatering,valve box,valve
stem extension, blocking, poly-wrapping the pipe,testing,flushing, disinfection and final
adjustment of the valve box to finished grade. Work by the City Water Utility contractor
shall include furnishing and installing the tapping sleeve and valve, per Section 7-
09.3(19)A Connections to Existing Mains.
Reason for Change:
HMA modifications. Based on the recommendation from King County Materials
Laboratory,the HMA mix design is increased to a higher gyration mix due to the steep
grade and bus traffic along Renton Avenue South.

CSTC modifications. The Contractor has requested the use of CSBC to facilitate
achieving optimum moisture content and required compacted density.
Tapping Sleeve and Valve Assembly modifications. Installation by the City Water Utility
contractor facilitates compliance with the Contract.
Materials:
This change order will result in the reduction of 274.41 tons of bid item 17 (Crushed
Surfacing Top Course) and the addition 274.41 tons of Crushed Surfacing Base Course as
new bid item 54. Crushed Surfacing Base Course shall meet the requirement of WSDOT
9-03.9(3). Acceptance shall be based on satisfactory test results of material
incorporated into the project.

Extension of Time:
The Time for Completion is extended 0 Working Days.
Equitable Adjustment:
The City and Contractor agree that this Change Order does not include an equitable
adjustment per Section 1-09.4 of the 2018 WSDOT/APWA Standard Specifications.
Sections 1-04.4 and 1-04.5 of the 2018 WSDOT/APWA Standard Specifications shall govern
this Change Order.The Work of the referenced Contract is modified to include the changes
detailed herein.The payment provided for herein shall constitute the complete and final
settlement for all costs of labor, equipment, materials,overhead, profit, permit fees, and all
other claims that may be made by the Contractor as a result of this change.
