THE CONTRACT IS MODIFIED AS FOLLOWS:
Description of Change:
Traffic Island Surface Revisions. The contract plans call for 2" of bark mulch over 2" of
topsoil for all the traffic islands. Field Work Directive No. 4 was issued to revise the
restoration for all the traffic islands located at S 130th Street, S 132nd Street and at the
HAWK pedestrian island.The restoration is modified to 4" depth exposed aggregate
concrete over 2" Crushed Surfacing Base Course (compacted depth). The Contractor
shall provide the required traffic control during the installation of the exposed
aggregate concrete.
The above changes shall be in accordance with the plans listed below.
Reason for Change:
Traffic Island Surface Revisions. During construction, the contractor discovered that
the pavement section under the location of the future traffic islands is more than 22" in
some areas. Removal of the pavement became costly and difficult and without removal
the topsoil and bark mulch could not drain and would washout onto the street.The City
determined to use exposed aggregate concrete in the traffic islands in lieu of
topsoil/bark mulch restoration.
Materials:
This change order will result in the reduction of 40 CY of bid item 36 (Topsoil,Type A),
the addition of 291.41 tons of bid item 54 (Crushed Surfacing Base Course) and the
addition of a new bid item 55 (Exposed Aggregate Concrete Islands).This new bid item is.
a lump sum cost that includes materials, installation and traffic control for the traffic
islands.

Equitable Adjustment:
The City and Contractor agree that this Change Order does not include an equitable
adjustment per Section 1-09.4 of the 2018 WSDOT/APWA Standard Specifications.
Sections 1-04.4 and 1-04.5 of the 2018 WSDOT/APWA Standard Specifications shall govern
this Change Order.The Work of the referenced Contract is modified to include the changes
detailed herein.The payment provided for herein shall constitute the complete and final
settlement for all costs of labor,equipment, materials, overhead, profit, permit fees, and all
other claims that may be made by the Contractor as a result of this change.

Subject: Traffic Island Surface Revision
Scope:
The Contractor is directed to revise the surface of all the traffic islands located at S 130
Street, S 132nd Street and HAWK ped island. Delete the bark and topsoil that is currently
called out for the traffic islands on the project. In its place the City would like a price to
install a 4-inch thick exposed aggregate finish concrete, over CSTC. Assume joint
spacing as per the City's cement concrete detail. The mix for the rock in the exposed
aggregate concrete will be the largest available passing the 2-inch sieve. In this scenario
the pavement below the existing surfacing in the islands (should it be present)could stay
in place and not need to be removed.

Tani,
R.W. Scott construction will Pour exposed agg concrete in the islands instead of the topsoil/bark for a total price of
$21,430.00.
Their price is based on approximately 200 SY of concrete at$92.10 per SY, using a 4000 PSI Paving Mix with 1-1.5" rock.
Also includes water for washing and all slurry control.
I took our subs price, added 12% markup and 2 flaggers 8 hours each. I have no other"fluff" in the work to negotiate.
Highmark has an opening to pour next week if price is agreeable.
Let me know at your earliest convenience what is decided.
