ORDINANCE NO. 4327
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
SECTION 4-7-8 OF CHAPTER 7, FIRE HYDRANTS, OF TITLE IV
(BUILDING REGULATIONS) , OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED
"CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON" RELATING TO FIRE FLOW REQUIREMENT.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I . Section 4-7-8 of Chapter 7, Fire Hydrants, of
Title IV (Building Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled
"Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is
hereby amended to read as follows :
4-7-8: Fire Flow Requirement: The fire flow requirement
applied by the Fire Marshal under the provisions of this Chapter
shall be based upon the criteria established in Appendix IIIA of
the Uniform Fire Code as amended, added to or accepted herein.
Appendix IIIA of the Uniform Fire Code is hereby adopted by
reference. One copy of that document shall be filed in the City
Clerk' s office and be available for use and examination by the
public. However, when the fire flow is less than 1, 000 gallons per
minute but greater than 500 gallons per minute then residential
structures shall be permitted to be served by sprinklers unless the
Fire Chief has made a written finding that the public safety,
health or welfare will be threatened, stating the factors upon
which such finding is based, in which case residential structures
shall not be permitted to be constricted at such location.
SECTION II . This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage, approval, and thirty days after its publication.
