HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 5703CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 5703 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 4-6-060 OF CHAPTER 6, STREET AND UTILITY STANDARDS, OF TITLE IV (DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS) OF THE RENTON MUNICIPAL CODE, BY AMENDING EXEMPTIONS FROM STREET FRONTAGE IMPROVEMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR INFILL SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. WHEREAS, a connected and completed street frontage system would result in improved or increased pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety; and WHEREAS, requiring the installation of street frontage improvements at the time of single family construction would eliminate gaps in the existing system; and WHEREAS, this matter was referred to the Planning Commission for investigation and study, considered by the Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on November 6, 2013, when it considered all relevant matters and allowed all parties to voice their support or opposition to the proposed; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended that the City Council amend the zoning text in conformity with the City's Comprehensive Plan, as amended; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Subsection 4-6-060.D, Exemptions, of Chapter 6, Street and Utility Standards, of Title IV (Development Regulations) of the Renton Municipal Code, is amended as follows: D. EXEMPTIONS: 1 ORDINANCE NO. 5703 The following exemptions shall be made to the requirements listed in this Section: 1. New construction or addition with valuation less than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00). 2. Interior remodels of any value not involving a building addition. 3. Tho construction of one single family house, or tho modification or addition to an existing houso if the public stroot abutting the lot under construction is currently used for vehicular access and improved with pavement. If the street doos not meet tho criteria, then tho stroot must bo improved to moot minimum Fire and Emergency Services Department Standards. SECTION II. This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and five (5) calendar days after publication PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 9th day of December t 2013. JasoiwA.
