HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 4190CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 4190 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSERVATION FUTURES INTERLOCAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON AND KING COUNTY BY INCLUDING $112,500 ALLOCATION FOR THE ACQUISITION OF OPEN SPACE CONNECTING TIFFANY PARK TO CASCADE PARK. WHEREAS, the City of Renton entered into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement, under RCW 39.34, with King County on June 5, 1990, which provides for the acquisition of monies through the Conservation Futures Levy Fund for the purpose of acquiring open space; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton applied for Conservation Futures funding assistance to acquire certain open space parcels near Tiffany Park and Cascade Park; and WHEREAS, King County has approved Renton's request and authorized the expenditure of up to $112,500 in matching funds to acquire a parcel to connect Tiffany Park and Cascade Park in the Benson Hill Community Planning Area in the City of Renton; and WHEREAS, the acquisition of the remaining open space lands in the Renton's Benson Hill Community Planning Area is consistent with Renton's adopted Parks, Recreation and Natural Areas Plan, and further, the Renton City Council considers it in the best public interest to acquire these remaining lands; and WHEREAS, Article VI, Section 6.1 of the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement requires that Renton take appropriate legislative action to commit funds for the purpose of matching the amounts allocated by King County; and 1 RESOLUTION NO. 4190 WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the existing interlocal agreement between the City of Renton and King County to include that additional $112,500 allocation; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above-stated findings are true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to amend the existing City of Renton-King County Interlocal Agreement to include the allocation of an additional $112,500 for the acquisition of real property connecting Tiffany Park and Cascade Park. SECTION III. Renton's share of the project monies will be derived from the King County Proposition 2 Levy Fund. SECTION IV. Any received fund monies shall be used to acquire open space land to connect Tiffany Park and Cascade Park in Renton's Benson Hill Community Planning Area.
