HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 4134CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 4134 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ENDORSING THE ISSAQUAH SCHOOL DISTRICT'S BOND MEASURE ON THE APRIL 17, 2012, BALLOT, AND URGING A "YES" VOTE ON IT. WHEREAS, the Issaquah School District has before the voters a $219 million construction and maintenance bond measure on the April 17, 2012, ballot; and WHEREAS, this bond measure is necessary to provide for the modernization of Liberty High School, additions to schools, relocation and renovation of Tiger Mountain Community High School, reconstruction of several schools, critical maintenance and repairs for all facilities and renovation of athletic fields and stadiums to increase usability and safety; and WHEREAS, a 60% "yes" vote will be required to pass this bond measure; and WHEREAS, past projects have been completed on time and on budget; and WHEREAS, residents can expect to see a decrease in local school taxes as the measure is structured to be about half as much as the bond debt retiring in 2012; and WHEREAS, should this bond measure pass, the tax rate will decrease from $4.85 to $4.42 per $1,000 of assessed property value; and WHEREAS, this bond measure is necessary to allow Issaquah School District to make the crucial improvements; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 4134 SECTION II. The City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, endorses the Issaquah School District's school construction bond measure on the April 17, 2012, ballot.
