HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 4150CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 4150 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIRING A WATER MAIN AT THE WEST HILL PUMP STATION. WHEREAS, the City of Renton is a provider of water service for domestic uses and for fire protection; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton owns, operates and maintains the West Hill Pump Station and related water mains and appurtenances; and WHEREAS, a portion of an existing 12-inch water transmission main under the pump building has suffered a break causing damages to the pump station and an interruption of water supply from the pump station to the West Hill reservoir; and WHEREAS, this section of water main needs to be replaced in order to restore water supply to the reservoir to provide water for domestic uses and for fire protection; and WHEREAS, the existing interruption of water supply presents a real, immediate threat to the performance of essential municipal works functions, and may result in material loss or damage to property, bodily injury, or loss of life if immediate action is not taken due to the interruption of water supply; and WHEREAS, the Mayor has declared an emergency pursuant to the provisions of RCW 39.04.280 and Renton Policy and Procedure Manual 250-02, paragraph 6.6 to authorize the Public Works Administrator to waive competitive bidding requirements and to award all necessary contracts to address the emergency for the repair of said section of water main; 1 RESOLUTION NO. 4150 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. An emergency did exist at the time of the declaration of emergency by Mayor Denis Law. By these written recitals and findings, the City Council does hereby approve the Mayor's emergency declaration to waive competitive bidding requirements and to award all necessary contracts to address the emergency for the repair of the aforesaid section of water main at the West Hill pump station.
