ORDINANCE NO. 4972
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ADDING
A NEW SECTION, 5-11-1.1, TO CHAPTER 11, UTILITY TAX, OF TITLE
V (FINANCE AND BUSINESS REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE NO.
4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF RENTON, WASHINGTON" WHICH INCLUDES CABLE MODEM
SERVICE AS A UTILITY SUBJECT TO THE UTILITY TAX.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. A new Section, 5-11-1.1, Cable Modem Utility Tax, of Chapter 11,
Utility Tax, of Title V (Finance and Business Regulations) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code
of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is hereby added, to read as follows:
I. Cable Modem Utility Tax:
Upon cable modem service and upon every business or entity engaged in providing cable
modem service, a tax equal to six percent (6%) of the total gross income from such business in
the City shall be charged.
SECTION H. This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and
30 days after publication.
