ORDINANCE NO.4833
AN ORDI ANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON,
AME DING TITLE II (COMMISSIONS AND BOARDS),OF
ORDINANCE NO.4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON"BY
ADDING CHAPTER 12 CREATING THE HUMAN SERVICES
ADVISORY COMMITTEE,ESTABLISHING THE REQUIREMENTS
AND TERMS OF ITS MEMBERS,AND PROVIDING FOR RULES AND
PROCEDURES FOR ITS OPERATION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON,DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I.There is hereby added a new chapter to Title Il (Commissions and Boards),
of Ordinance No.4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton,Washington"
which reads as follows:

CREATED -POWERS AND DUTIES:
There is hereby formally recognized and established a Human Services Advisory
Committee.The purpose of the committee shall be to:
A.Understand the human service needs of Renton residents.
B.Evaluate and recommend to the Mayor.City CounciJ and City staff,allocation of
funds to specific programs and projects that meet those needs.

C.Assist staff in developing policies related to human services affecting Renton
residents.
D.Keep current on community-wide actions that may affect the availability and
quality of human service provision in Renton.

A.
MEMBERSHIP TERMS A D RESIDE CY REQUIREMENTS:
The membership shall consist of nine members residing within the corporate
bOlUldaries of the City of Renton.The committee shall be composed of people who represent the
diverse nature of the City,including geography,gender,age and ethnicity.
B.The Mayor will appoint members of the Renton Human Services Advisory
Committee for a three year term of office.Initial appointments shall begin in the year 2000,and
members of the committee shall be appointed for different terms,as follows:three to serve for a
period of one year;three to serve for a period of two years;and three to serve for a period of
three years.
c.2-12-3:RULES A D PROCEDURES:
The Human Services Advisory Committee shall further establish in the bylaws,such
written rules and procedures deemed necessary to carry out the foregoing duties.
SECTION ll.This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage,approval,and 30 days
after publication.
