RESOLUTION NO. 3560
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING A FOUR (4) DAY TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF
OAKESDALE AVENUE S.W. BETWEEN S.W. 16™ STREET AND S.W.
27™ STREET BETWEEN OAKESDALE AVENUE S.W. AND LIND
AVENUE S.W. FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE INTERSECTION OF
S.W. 27™ AND OAKESDALE AVENUE S.W.
WHEREAS, the City has a street project for the Oakesdale Avenue S.W. Phase IB and
Phase 2 Extension, CAG 00-061; and
WHEREAS, the project is located on land adjacent to the Boeing Longacres site, east of
1-5 and south of SR-405. The overall project involved the extension of Oakesdale Avenue S.W.
south from S.W. 16th Avenue to S.W. 31st Street; and
WHEREAS, Phase 1A of the work constructed a new five-lane roadway between S.W.
16th Street and S.W. 19th Street, and an interim three-lane roadway between S.W. 27th Street.
This section of new roadway was opened to traffic on October 1, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Phase IB of the work will widen the three-lane section between S.W. 19th
Street to S.W. 27th Street to its ultimate five-lane configuration. This widening portion of the
project was completed at the same time as completion of the Phase 2 paving; and
WHEREAS, Phase 2 of the project will construct a new four-lane roadway from S.W.
27th Street to approximately S.W. 31st Street, where it will connect to the original Oakesdale
Avenue S.W.; and
WHEREAS, the contractor resumed work on the project on August 29, 2001, after the
permits were issued. The contractor is scheduled to begin paving on April 15, 2002; and

WHEREAS, the contractor has requested a four (4) day temporary road closure for the
reconstruction of the intersection of the Oakesdale Avenue S.W. and S.W. 27th Street that is part
of the final connection of Oakesdale Avenue S.W. to the south and the re-channelization of
Oakesdale Avenue S.W. to the north into a five-lane section; and
WHEREAS, this closure will enable the contractor to excavate the full width of the
intersection in all directions and complete the final paving of not only the intersection but also
allow continued paving to the south; and
WHEREAS, the scheduled closure dates are April 15, 2002 through April 18, 2002.
These dates are contingent on the weather and may need to be extended accordingly; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Code section 9-9-3 the City Council is to authorize such
closure by means of a Resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The City Council does hereby authorize the four (4) day temporary
closure of Oakesdale Avenue S.W. between S.W. 16th Street and S.W. 27th Street and S.W. 27th
Street between Oakesdale Avenue S.W. and Lind Avenue S.W. for reconstruction of the
intersection of S.W. 27th and Oakesdale Avenue S.W., commencing on April 15, 2002.
