HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3561CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3561 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF S. 180"7SW 43rd STREET FOR A PERIOD OF 12 MONTHS, DURING THE GRADE SEPARATION PROJECT BY THE CITY OF TUKWILA. WHEREAS, the City of Renton has been involved with the planning for the City of Tukwila's grade separation project, which will result in a section of elevated railroad tracks; and WHEREAS, Tukwila's grade separation project on S. 180th/SW 43rd Street will commence in February of 2002; and WHEREAS, the boundaries of the project location are as follows: The project lies within a 1,100 feet stretch of roadway on S. 180th/SW 43rd. The western end of the project is 500 feet west of the Union Pacific railroad tracks, and lies just east of the 72nd Ave. S. intersection with S. 180th/SW 43rd. The intersection (T-intersection) of 72nd Ave. S. and S. lSO^/SW 43rd is not closed; however, drivers approaching S. 180th/SW 43rd from 72nd Ave. S. will only be able to turn left. The east end of the project lies 500 feet east of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks and approximately 1000 feet west of the intersection of Oakesdale Ave/80th Ave. S. with S. 180th/SW 43rd. The intersection of Oakesdale Ave/80th Ave. S. is unaffected by the project limits; and WHEREAS, to facilitate this construction and allow for a safe condition for both vehicles and pedestrians it is necessary to do this work under a temporary street closure; and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Code section 9-9-3 the City Council is to authorize such closure by means of a Resolution; RESOLUTION NO. 3561 WHEREAS, the City council took action to authorize this temporary street closure starting in May, 2002, by Resolution no. 3552; and WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila and their contractor wish to begin this temporary street closure on April 15, 2002, in order to expedite the project and avoid delays; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The City Council does hereby authorize the temporary closure of S. lSO^/SW 43rd Street, starting on April 15, 2002, for a period of up to 12 months during the grade separation project by the City of Tukwila.
